Yulo, PH Artistic Gymnasts Gear up for Medal Finish In Apparatus Finals

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Gymnastics wonder boy and world champion Carlos Edriel Yulo
leads the Philippine artistic gymnasts as they are set to compete in the apparatus finals
event of the men’s and women’s artistic gymnastic competition on the third day of the 30th
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games here at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, this city.
Yulo, who bagged the gold medal in individual all around two days ago, will try to salvage more medals as he will compete in the floor exercise, pommel horse, and still rings of the men’s artistic gymnastics. Reyland Capellan will also have the opportunity to secure medals for the country as he is set to perform in the floor exercise and pommel horse apparatus finals.
Meanwhile, the lady gymnasts will attempt to land a spot in the podium as Ma. Cristina Onofre is set to compete in the vault and uneven bars finals in the women’s artistic category. Gymnasts Mya Kalani Wilson, on the other hand, will also compete in the vault finals while Chloe Shaine Gatlabayan, who injured her foot in vault routine, is expected to perform in the finals of uneven bars. The girls failed to secure a top three spot in yesterday’s individual all around event.
The apparatus finals commence at 4:00 p.m. starting with the men’s floor exercise and the women’s vault followed by the pommel horse (men), women’s uneven bars, and still rings (men).
