Philippines Strike 3 Golds, 5 Silvers, And 4 Bronzes in SEAG Gymnastics

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - The Philippines had a remarkable showing in this year’s Southeast Asian Games as
it hauled a total of three golds, five silver, and four bronze medals in the gymnastics event as the
competition comes to a close here at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Highlighted by world champion Carlos Edriel Yulo’s world-class performance, the country pulled two gold and five silver medals in the men’s artistic event; individual all around and floor exercise (gold), and vault, pommel horse, still rings, horizontal bars, and parallel bars apparatus (silver), all courtesy of the gymnast from Leveriza.
In the rhythmic category, Cebuana gymnast Dela Pisa bagged medals in three of four individual apparatus competition; a gold in the hoop, and two bronze medals each from the ball and clubs. In the group competition, the squad composed of Katrina Lorenzo, Jean Caluscusin, Andrea Mae Emperado, Divina Sembrano, and AJ Melgar, settled for the bronze medal in the all around final, wherein scores from the group all around-single apparatus (balls) competition and the mixed apparatus (3 hoops and 2 pair of clubs) events were summed up.
Meanwhile, Charmaine Dolar clinched the last bronze medal for the Philippines in the gymnastics competition as she placed third in the individual women’s category of the aerobic gymnastics competition.
As of press time, the Philippines pulled away from other competing countries in the medal standing with 116 gold, 86 silver, and 96 bronze medals in the 30th edition of this biennial meet.
