MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Philippine gymnasts Daniela Reggie Dela Pisa and Shieldannah Sabio qualified for the individual apparatus finals of the rhythmic gymnastics competition of the 30th Southeast Asian Games here at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, this city.

Dela Pisa showcased a brilliant performance that made her clinch the finals in all of the four apparatus; hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon. Sabio, on the other hand, will compete in the finals of hoop, clubs, and ribbon but failed to secure a finals slot in the ball apparatus.

The two finalists must execute a clean and flawless routine against their fellow contenders in order to gain a place in the top three spots.

Meanwhile, the team of Katrina Lorenzo, Jean Caluscusin, Andrea Mae Emperado, Divina Sembrano, and AJ Melgar will go against the squad from Malaysia and Thailand in the ball and mixed apparatus group finals of the rhythmic gymnastics competition. Though assured of at least a bronze medal, the Philippine team is optimistic of bringing together an excellent performance to land a gold medal finish in the said event.

The rhythmic gymnastics finals is scheduled tomorrow, 10:00 a.m. also here at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
